Govee or eufy — which should I get?▾
It depends on your roofline and whether you already own eufy cameras. Govee has the widest model range and scene library; eufy runs brighter per light and syncs with eufy cameras. We'll recommend the exact model — Pro-tier for complex rooflines, standard-tier for simpler ones — at your free consultation.
Can the lights be cut to fit a complex roofline?▾
The Pro-tier systems (Govee PRO 2, Prism, Govee Pro, eufy S4) are cuttable and spliceable — the PRO 2 even includes Y-splitters for independently controlled split runs, which is a big help on homes with lots of gables, peaks, and dormers. Standard-tier systems aren't cuttable; they're best for simpler rooflines like ranches, and any extra length just stays off in the app.
How long do permanent lights last?▾
Both Govee and eufy are rated for 50,000+ hours — run a few hours a night, that's well over a decade. They're built and tested for the full range of Chicago winters and summers.
Is the wiring visible?▾
The power run down to the outlet is tucked away behind your trim or a downspout, and every wire is mounted tight so nothing sags or dangles. The small wire between the lights along the roofline is still there if you look closely — for a completely invisible daytime look, add the SnapTrack channel, which hides the wiring entirely.
Do I need strong Wi-Fi outside?▾
Yes — the controller needs a reliable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal up at gutter height (that's the band these systems use). We check your signal during the consultation, and if it's weak an inexpensive Wi-Fi extender usually solves it — we'll flag that before you order anything.
What does permanent light installation cost?▾
Our install starts at $4 per foot for a one-story home and $4.50 per foot for a two-story home. For example, a 150-foot set run in full works out to about $600 on a one-story home and around $675 on a two-story — a starting price based on using the whole box. Complex rooflines and the SnapTrack channel are quoted on site. You buy the lights separately at retail, and we confirm the exact price on your free estimate.
